The DeLand Municipal Airport is a beehive of activity as final preparations are in full swing for the 1st annual DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase, to be held Thursday through Saturday, November 3-5, 2016, at the airport. Gates will open at 8 a.m. daily, with exhibits opening at 9 a.m. and closing at 5 p.m. The DeLand Sport Aviation Showcase is a unique event for this community that you won’t want to miss!

Nearly 100 aviation companies from throughout the United States, Europe, and South America have registered to exhibit at the Showcase, the only event in the southeastern United States designed to expressly serve the sport aviation community. The Showcase will welcome aviation professionals and enthusiasts from throughout the world.

DeLand Airport Manager John Eiff and Sport Aviation Administrator Jana Filip designed the Showcase to bring together buyers and sellers of recreational aircraft and provide an opportunity for the sharing of knowledge and information – all in an atmosphere that highlights the fun of recreational flying. “Our goal is to create an annual destination event that brings aviation enthusiasts together and highlights all that DeLand and Volusia County have to offer the aviation industry,” Filip said.

Wide Variety of Aircraft on Display

The Showcase exhibitors will display and demonstrate a wide variety of sport aircraft, including fixed-wing airplanes and ultralights, powered parachutes and paragliders, gyroplanes, and weight-shift trikes as well as aircraft accessories, including avionics, engines, headsets, propellers, and more. A complete listing of exhibitors is available on the Showcase website, www.sportaviationvillage.com/showcase/exhibitors.

Special Invitation to Homebuilders

The Showcase is extending a special welcome to pilots of homebuilt aircraft. A Homebuilts Display area will be conveniently located close to both the indoor and outdoor exhibits, providing an opportunity for aircraft owners to show their aircraft and talk with visitors. EAA and AOPA members are asked to bring their membership cards to receive a 25% discount on admission. Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Homebuilt Community Manager Charlie Becker will present a Keynote Speech at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, in the Show Center Tent, providing the latest news and information about homebuilt aircraft activities.

Lots of Flying and Educational Forums

In addition, daily demo flights, manufacturer showcase flights, and exhibitor demonstrations will provide lots of opportunities for aviation enthusiasts and others to enjoy learning about flying for fun. Educational forums will provide information for aviation newcomers and seasoned pilots alike. On-site food concessions will make it easy for visitors to enjoy the Showcase for one, two, or all three days.
